One of the last players the Red Sox signed in their 2024 international class, Primera turned pro for $10,000 out of Venezuela that September. He batted .333/.465/.430 in the Rookie-level Dominican Summer League in his pro debut last year, earning DSL All-Star Game MVP honors after homering in his lone at-bat. After coming to the United States in 2026, he slashed .427/.549/.718 in the Rookie-level Florida Complex League to earn a promotion to Single-A shortly after turning 19 in June.

Primera manages the strike zone well for a teenager, walking more than he struck out in the two Rookie circuits and rarely swinging and missing when he turns his right-handed swing loose. Boston has helped him add strength and bat speed, and he's significantly bigger than his listed 179 pounds. He consistently pulls pitches and is hitting them harder than ever in 2026, so he could develop 15-20 homer power.

Primera has all the tools to become at least a quality defender behind the plate. Though he's a well below-average runner, he's athletic for a catcher and receives and blocks well. He has advanced framing skills, especially at the bottom of the strike zone, and possesses solid arm strength.
