This jersey was worn by Brandon Clarke during his 2025 season with the Salem Red Sox.
Brandon is the #7 Prospect in the Cardinals organization, according to MLB Pipeline.
Here's what MLB Pipeline has to say about Brandon:
Clarke had Tommy John surgery as a high school junior in Virginia and later developed thoracic issues before he could pitch for Alabama. He didn't truly blossom in college until his second year at State College of Florida (Manatee-Sarasota), and he was considered the best JUCO prospect in the 2024 Draft after striking out 107 in 74 1/3 innings and showing out at the MLB Draft Combine. The Red Sox took him in the fifth round, signed him for below slot at $400,000 and saw him post a 4.03 ERA with 60 strikeouts and 27 walks in 38 innings at Single-A and High-A in a first full season that was limited by blister issues. Clarke was traded to the Cardinals in the offseason as part of the Sonny Gray deal.
The 6-foot-4 southpaw has absolutely electric arm speed and elite extension that make him tantalizing as a prospect. He sits 95-98 mph with a pair of fastballs -- his four-seamer acts more like a cut-ride option and the sinker runs armside from his low three-quarters delivery. His slider has become one of the Minorsâ best breakers -- an upper-80s offering with tight spin that he can land on both edges of the plate; batters missed on 63 percent of their swings against it last year. With two plus pitches, Clarke didn't find a need for his upper-70s curveball or upper-80s changeup because he struggled to command both.
Clarke certainly brings athleticism, as the extension shows, but he lacks polish with his control. The blister issues could have played a part in 2025, but that underlines another issue: his injury history. He underwent offseason surgery on his left shoulder to address a blood-flow issue that may have caused the blisters in the first place. Clarke could absolutely be a high-leverage reliever given the stuff but should get looks as a starter in St. Louisâ rebuild.
